Distracted Driving Awareness Month
Save a life by joining the National Safety Council this April
in urging those you care about to:
- Stop using cell phones while driving
- Understand the dangers of the cognitive distraction to the brain
- Inform people who call you while driving that you'd be happy to continue the conversation once they have reached their destination
- Tell others about the dangers of cell phone distracted driving
What is Distracted Driving?
Driving is accomplished in the mind. Anything that keeps your mind from focusing completely on driving is a distraction.
Researchers are proving how talking on a cell phone, even hands free, distracts the mind more than talking to a passenger.
Click Here for more information about the Distracted Driving Campaign. Take the pledge to drive cell phone free.
"The National Safety Council estimates 21 percent of all crashes in 2010 involved talking on cell phones accounting for 1.1 million crashes that year. A minimum of three percent of crashes are estimated to involve texting."

Insurance Myths
In the next few newsletters we will provide you with some of the most common insurance myths.
Let's get started by looking at Homeowner Insurance.
Insurance Myth #1: My home insurance covers all my valuables.
Unfortunately, there are many different types of homeowner policies and each has their own exclusions and limitations. Check your Policy to see if your jewelry, fire arms and pets are covered.
There is a limit to the coverage your home insurance provides. If your valuables are worth more than your limit, you may need additional coverage!
Insurance Myth #2: My home insurance covers me if my home floods.
This is something many find is not true when it is too late. Your home insurance will most *likely cover water damage if a pipe bursts, but not from rising water.
*Some policies may even exclude water damage.
You need to obtain a flood insurance policy, which will cover you from rising water.
